For every story, there is a way to narrate... And a way to put everything into shape.
In this article, you'll discover the different editorial designs I created since 2017. I am proud to say that every written story being used for those designs except for one has been written by me.
Knowing a story, for me, is surely the way to create the best editorial design to showcase the narrative aspect.
Project Yui is a one week creation designed for a workshop, orchestrated by Katie Fechtmann, based on the theme of the interraction between a man and an IA.

Getting inspired by the "Sword Art Online" Japanese animation, I wrote a text taking the point of view of the IA of the game the anime is taking place in, Yui. She is not one of the main characters, she only interracts with them but has a beautiful narrative evolution from an IA to a childlike lifeform.
Once everything was written, I just had to make an ocject that could really embody the ovolution of Yui though the reading of her story.
This evolution taking place in 5 different story arcs, I made a divided book going from aggressive colors to sweet and childlike greens and pinks.
Flatland is one interesting book. everything in a society is made of simple shapes and no volumes.

This whole work was one big try on printing possibilities. Every page has been printing three times. One time per color. The result gives interesting transparency fluctuations.
This design only takes on the first part of the book. To make it evolving like the story itself, every page is cutted one centimeter bigger than the next. It gives an impression of an always moving book that I found quite interesting.
The Malleus Maleficarum is one of the first edited and printed book in the history. To understand how printed works can evolve and the states of mind of people through time, I edited a modern take on the subject.
The subject of the Malleus Maleficarum is a special one. I've always been interested in the matters of witchcraft and the different points of view about the subject through times.
Taking a different approach, I've decided to create a lexicarum that can be read in two ways, one narrated from the perspective of a witch, taking the attitude of a New York It Girl and the other explained by an old fashioned XVth century's priest.
The whole book had to be illustrated. I used engraved-ish illustrations to show every word defined in the book.
